I've made some progress with the project (albeit slowly). Right now I've managed to get some basic time and weather info being displayed on the LCD and web interface. Next step is to get the alarm system working plus implementing user-activated NTP sync.

well this a project that absorbed way more time than I planned. mcp23017 and encoders to control raspberry pi running #Zynthian. turns out the only solid core wire I had on hand was just red or 0.1mm magnet wire. but it's 99% done. just need the ground bus, but thats tomorrow's problem.

No, I'm not dead. Just busy.
Got the ESP32 to display and update the current time and date, as well as some info from the BME680, on an LCD with LVGL.
Next step is to get the web interface and NTP going again so that the time displayed can be remotely synced to network time.

Ok, so at this point I've pretty much finished with the layout of the first page of the web interface. I've made it fully responsive and fixed up all the formatting.

Time to move on to designing the actual user interface on the alarm clock's built-in display with LVGL. Stay tuned!

Ok, so I've managed to make some progress on making the web interface more size-responsive. I've gotten the panels to rearrange at 900px instead of 864px and altered how the panels rearrange to make it look better and be more space-efficient.

FINALLY got the weather panels on my #esp32 alarm clock prototype web server page to stack when the width is less than 864px (there's also been a lot of other improvements since I last posted)!

For the alarm clock, I've decided to go with the ESPAsyncWebServer library for creating the web server to control it remotely. Apparently this is supposed to be better than the WebServer.h library. Honestly, I'm new to this stuff and frankly looking at all the jargon gives me a headache.

Yesterday I finished programming my inital test program for the alarm clock project that allows the user to connect to WiFi, automatically update the RTC upon connection and output the time. As such, I'm going to start figuring out how I'm going to make the web server to control the clock.

I did some more programming for the alarm clock today, just figuring out the wifi connection stuff and some hardware checks.

I should be done with this stuff soon, hopefully by the end of tomorrow, unless a bunch of random bugs occur again.

Hello again, sorry for the absence. I've been working on the proof of concept program for the alarm clock, but it has taken quite some time given my other work as well as some issues with the serial input which I fixed today.

Ok, update time.
So a couple of days ago I acquired DS3231 and BME680 (I meant for it to be a BME280, but whatever) modules to help start prototyping my ESP32 alarm clock project. I've confirmed they work and I've started building the first proof-of-concept.

Got my Hackaday.io project page for my alarm clock project up and running!

It's not fully complete right now, but I'll try to do as much as I can today to get it to fully reflect my current progress.
