i think one of the places where wayama's light touch shows is that nikaidou's reactivity to horror is played for some laughs, but his anxiety around people isn't. like you're really just supposed to feel sympathetic toward him when he's being dragged around by the girls in okinawa.

i think something that makes captivated by you really good is that wayama doesn't like. halfass it. a lot of people see slice of life as an excuse to not try, but she clearly puts a lot of the same care into it as she does with her more serious melodrama.

every wayama character is the most beautiful person you have ever seen in your life, but not because they're unrealistically beautiful. instead it's because wayama is not afraid to make them a little weird looking, and seems to have a genuine love for portraying various faces.
