He rested his hand on his belt. He already knew one of the Pokemon that would participate in this battle on his behalf, the only issue was deciding who he should open with.

“Sounds good to me,” he said wondering how strong she was as a trainer. Should he go all out, or temper expectations?

back at her, a feeling of doubt and concern began to knot in his chest.

“You should get back,” he said quietly, voice calm but firm. “Report this and what we’ve seen so far… I’ll manage it from here.”

stone structure began to rise nearby.

As it reached its apex, locking into place with a metallic echo, a carved, reinforced passageway opened, carrying the scent of oil and machinery.

Stepping forward, for a brief moment, he acknowledged that this was much more than he expected and looking ->

something that he could only assume was a switch of sorts.

He’d look up to exchange a brief glance with her that said everything it had to.

“Be ready.”

Pressing the switch, the ground shuddered as a mechanical whir erupted, vibrating through the dunes. Sand cascaded in waves as a massive ->

pillar slowly revealed from the desert floor. Kael’s fingers traced along the base, feeling the precision of its construction beneath the grit.

Something deliberately hidden had been left here, and to make matters worse, it was still active beneath the desert.

As his fingers continued, he felt ->

desert seemed to recoil around them as the colossal Pokémon found its rhythm, peeling back layers of grit and revealing metal glinting faintly beneath. A hollow space grew below the dunes, and Kael crouched beside it, brushing sand away as he leaned forward, peering into the dark opening.

The wind tore at them, sand lashing like tiny shards of glass, but he caught her question over the roar. He exchanged a brief glance with his Pokémon and, following a subtle nod, it exhaled a low growl that cut through the storm as it slammed its claws into the sand.

When she stumbled over a half-buried beam, Kael’s hand shot out instinctively, but she twisted midair, landing with a handspring and rolling onto her feet as if the stumble had never happened. He let his hand drop, a faint, almost reluctant smile tugging at his lips. She didn’t need him, she ->

“Grains for energy… berry powder for vitamins… kelp for balance… maybe meat for strength? Definitely Sitrus, for recovery,” Kael murmured, tasting the mix… only to grimace as the balance hit wrong. “Back to adjustments…” he sighed

that made it obvious that whatever this was, it wasn’t natural.

His face showed focus as he thought of all the potential scenarios in his head. “You saw it right? Maybe ->

That was when the sands shifted wrongly. Kael’s eye caught it immediately, jagged shapes cutting through the dune lines, edges of metal forcing their way out of the sand. Foundational beams and industrial sheets ->

thrived on the challenge.

If that was the case, he wouldn’t let himself lag behind. He followed right behind her, showing his own unique resistance he had to the elements built from years of fending them off, sometimes on his own.

Behind them, Tyranitar moved forward, quick for its size, the ->

The storm bit at them, pulling at every step, but Kael held steady, if anything briefly admiring how this newcomer carved forward like she belonged to the chaos. He let himself watch her a moment longer and made up his mind that she wasn’t someone who needed sheltering. No, she looked like she ->

“So what do you base your work off of?”
darktypetrainer.bsky.social
He nodded.

“It’s a topic I’m actually pretty interest in myself. I feel like you teased a notion of a different type of co-existence with Pokemon but never went into detail about your vision of what that world could look like.”
