Out’n about in Horbury Junction this morning we noticed a couple of issues that need dealing with.

The road name sign and blocked drain have now been reported to Wakefield Council and the fence to Network Rail for their attention.

Thank you to Northern Powergrid’s contractors for cutting back the overgrown hedge close to the junction of North Ave & Parker Road. We’ll ask for the path to be swept now it’s clear.

The dropped gutter drain has also been reported to the Council for resetting and levelling.

We are receiving comments that residents are being sent text messages/emails supposedly from the DWP asking for bank details so they can pay the Winter Fuel Allowance.

🔴𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗦𝗖𝗔𝗠 - 𝗱𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗱 - 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗽!🔴

DWP already knows how to contact you & would never ask for your Bank details.

Had a walk in Carr Lodge Park earlier and the flower beds are looking good. They need an odd spot or two of rain, let’s hope it rains before the weekend!

This video being shared widely on Facebook has been reported to the Police and Council.

Please take extra care in the Lagoon area as there are now fewer life saving aids due to sheer wonton vandalism!

The Guerrilla Gardeners have been out this evening, litter picking, weeding and generally tidying up.
Over 15 bags of detritus removed from our streets!

The Community Orchard in Carr Lodge Park seems to be enjoying the hot weather and the recent rain. The apple & pear trees are heavy with fruit as is the nearby mulberry bush.

Another project delivered by Friends of Horbury's Parks working together with the community and your local Councillors.

What better way to spend an afternoon than at Memory Action Group’s Big Sing at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School.

FYI - there was lots of dancing as well as singing!

At National Coal Mining Museum for England and the lighting of the VE-80 beacon.

A great honour, with the Mayor of Kirklees to light the beacon - note to self, don’t stand too close next time!

Commemorating the brave men & women who fought in the war and the Bevin Boys who worked underground.
