I know this is a generalization, but I heard MAGAs saying how soldiers fighting nazis were racists, pro-slavery, bigots, no dear, these types would have joined Hitler or fascists in the west back then.

These fascists relied on their belief that leftists are passive, weak and will submit... fuck that! Let us surprise them. We are wiling to become violent if it needs to be and win. During ww2, it was mostly leftists who went to that war, those on the right were usually fascists in the US back then.

Some of them are either bots or buying into the maga narrative by supplying it with their own interpretations of what they have experienced themselves, this is how false narratives usually spread, people build on them until entire myths are created.
