Went to a Banned Books Week event.

Various books that have been challenged in recent years, including Gender Queer, All Boys Aren’t Blue, Perks of Being a Wallflower, and Flamer.

Various books banned in the past lay out on a table, including I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, Fahrenheit 451, and books by Vonnegut.

Books banned in past years such as The Jungle, Breakfast of Champions, and 1984.

My son’s been really into Bronze Age DC lately, so he made out like a bandit in the dollar bins at the show.

Eight comic books featuring Batman and various villains such as Calendar Man, Crazy Quilt, Scarecrow, Deadshot, and The Joker.

Ten comic books featuring Batman, Green Lantern, the Fantastic Four, The Flash, and Superman.

Picked these up at the show for 50 cents each because they said they were missing pages. I haven’t gone through yet to see how many or if they affect the story too much.

Silver age copies of Detective Comics with Carmine Infantino art, one of which is the first Cluemaster.

Went to the Scholastic Book Fair and it was like Black Friday for elementary students.

Always the highlight of anything she’s in. She gave an incredible one-woman radio performance in a truly chilling 1940s episode of Suspense called “Sorry, Wrong Number.”

While we cruise into fall and spooky season, gonna do a little #kidlit self-plug for "Lucy and the Ghost Take the Stage!" - some ghostly fun that's not spooky for the little ones and a love letter to the performing arts.

Just requested it from my library upon your recommendation! I have not read this one, but I did read the one by Bob Thomas a few years back. It was well done, but it seemed to lean a bit toward the family approval/corporate polish side of things. Looking forward to this one.

If you're so inclined, I highly recommend "The Disney Revolt" by Jake S. Friedman.
