Interesting idea. I'm curious if this is on anyone else's radar, like @bikepgh.bsky.social, @friendsoftheriverfront.org, @alleghenycounty.bsky.social, @mobilifyswpa.bsky.social, etc. This was my son's preferred way to ride to the Science Center for summer camp, and I'd love more green space.

Who: dunno, not who was involved, if they were injured, nothing
What: car crash
When: 6:30, 11/25/25
Where: Homewood North, near Sterrett and Frankstown
Why: dunno
How: dunno

This really sounds like just reprinting a sentence or two from Dispatch. Does that even count as journalism?

Another half-baked story. What led to the crash? What were the contributing conditions? What is the crash history? Did you talk to any of the first responders? Did you ask why they used drones, or did you just see it and go "Huh, look at that," and that was the end of it?

Really interesting article. What is the purpose of the T? Is it to get folks from Mt. Lebanon downtown? Or is to serve everyday Pittsburghers like in Allentown? And how do you balance transit need versus efficiency?

Any article that finishes with "it is unclear what led to the crash" is underbaked. The article mentions six people, but only one vehicle. Nothing about the speed limit on the road, history of crashes, potential solutions to this issue, anything.

The article is a little unclear if the police pursued after the initial attempt to stop, although I believe Pittsburgh PD allows high-speed chases when a violent crime is suspected. As far as I can tell no one was hurt. I want to keep an eye on this.

Yes, PRT needs to improve on-time performance and frequency, but one way they could do that is by redesigning and consolidating bus routes. So they kinda need to do both.

With the funding crisis at Pittsburgh Regional Transit put on hold for at least the next two years, the agency is ready to move ahead early next year with the next step of its bus line redesign. But t...

Very interested to see how this detour goes. Will it absolutely destroy the neighborhood, city, state, and country, and possibly start World War III, as a very few but very loud people on the internet have suggested? Or will it be a nothingburger? My money is on the later.

Great timing to bring this major asset (both transit, tourist, and historic) back online. And I love hearing that the only time PRT's CEO has gotten hate mail (not that anyone should ever get it) was when she speculated about closing down the Incline.

1. Good on Pittsburgh Police not causing a high-speed chase. Even though this driver still made a bad decision, it could have been made worse by having additional speeding vehicles.
2. Nine injuries is terrible, but NONE WERE CRITICAL. This is due to the natural speed control of walkable streets.

This @wtae4.bsky.social article's headline makes it sound like the motorcyclist chose to die. I would change it to something like "Driver kills motorcyclist in Westmoreland County." It cites a precise time and location, which helps us get an idea of lighting and typical traffic conditions.

When it comes to car crashes I'm critical of articles that assign agency to the vehicle, but for trains, I think it's different, since trains can't swerve and need a looong time to stop to avoid a crash. It's closer to when someone hits a tree; the tree couldn't really do anything to avoid it.

This @wtae4.bsky.social @raquelciampi.bsky.social article features probably my primary pet peeve, of assigning an action to the vehicle rather than the driver. Unless the vehicle malfunctioned, it didn't cross the yellow line, the driver crossed the yellow line with their vehicle.

I think a good test for an article is if I have to go anywhere else for useful information. In this case, they do mention the time, so we can make some assumptions about lighting and traffic, but I don't know what this intersection looks like, so an aerial/street view/on-site picture would help.
