They claimed as they were closing the flight they got an ‘alert’ that my wife was ‘unticketed’. The gate agent was oddly hostile. We resolved it by getting a rep on speakerphone (who was stunned at what she was hearing) and authorized our immediate re-boarding. No answers upon follow up.

I followed up twice (and am in their top, unpublished frequent flier tier). No explanation, no apology.

Very out of character for United. I’ve gotten lavish treatment/apologies/vouchers without asking when my headphone jack wouldn’t work! On this, dead nothing.

The most likely explanation for this was incompetence + software error, not profiling (at least in our view).

The flight crew said they’d never seen anything like it (nor have I). It was weird and the vibes were terrible.

They never gave us a totally straight answer. Said ‘there was no record of the reservation in the system’ after they successfully scanned the boarding pass. We ultimately fixed it and reboarded, but her bag didn’t. Mess.

Happened with my wife’s ticket (not mine) *after we were on the plane* but before the door shut. They threw her* off before the door closed. Insane.
