RIP Gene Winfield, June 16, 1927 – March 4, 2025.

His contributions to the original Star Trek series were profound. Here’s an article we did about him and one of his better-known works:

Possibly the 1st-ever #StarTrek TV parody was the sketch STAR TRIP: WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA ROBOT? on the 2nd-ever episode of the CAROL BURNETT SHOW, Sept. 18, 1967. It begins at 18:09 in the linked video. Guest Sid Caesar played Mr. Spook.

Leonard Nimoy, March 26, 1931 - February 27, 2015.

On an overcast and rainy day in April 1967, before Star Trek's second season started filming, Mr. Nimoy gave an outdoor performance in Agawam, MA. He sang, played his guitar, read poems, told stories, and answered questions from the audience.

#OTD Sixty years ago the score for the first #StarTrek pilot, "The Cage", was recorded. The music was by Alexander Courage and the first cue recorded was the main title, which would go on to be the theme for the series.

Got it. I have a 5-yr old LCD TV that works well with the 2600 using its RF output on channel 3. I'm sure it's not as nice as your Trinitron though.

I'm thinking of "upgrading" to a vintage 7800 so that I can play Xevious, Donkey Kong (with more than two levels), and Pole Position 2.

Yes, I played Galaxian and Turmoil on my 2600!
