The United States is purposefully blockading Cuba from accessing fuel that powers everything from grocery stores to hospitals. People will die. Children will die. What's being done to the people of Cuba is monstrous.

The people in power were ok with it in Gaza and now they're doing it to Cuba.

“I like that it takes all these old school noir tropes and throws them into a blender with some peyote. It sends Sean Penn’s character into a hopped up desert town Twilight Zone. Every character is a lunatic. It may not be for you, but I was here one hundred percent for it.”
A ★★★★ review of U Turn (1997)
Bobby Cooper (Sean Penn) is on his way to pay off his gambling debts to the Russian mafia. His car breaks down in a small Arizona desert town. He is quickly dragged into sleazy and murderous predicame...

Yes.

And those that are silent about this…why? Why do you love this Cheeto stained former TV game show host so much that you are willing to stay silent about something so horrific? We look in horror and judgement upon you.

Animals are always more intelligent and sensitive than we suppose.
“Our findings suggest the capacity to form secondary representations of pretend objects is within the cognitive potential of, at least, an enculturated ape & likely dates back 6-9 million years, to our common evolutionary ancestors.” Amalia Bastos & @chriskrupenye.bsky.social today in @science.org.🧪
Evidence for representation of pretend objects by Kanzi, a language-trained bonobo
Secondary representations enable our minds to depart from the here-and-now and generate imaginary, hypothetical, or alternate possibilities that are decoupled from reality, supporting many of our rich...

“I think too many people try to watch this film as a parable. Those deeper elements are certainly there—for example, some critics call this a Marxist fable. Still, this film’s nuclear power is simply the story without all the metaphorical baggage.”

“It’s notable to point out that this documentary and Coppola’s The Godfather came out in the same year. Although they are both about the Italian immigrant experience, they could not be more different.”
A ★★★★½ review of Italianamerican (1974)

“First, we are totally involved in wanting to save Nicky. Then, as we get to know him, we find that maybe we don’t like him very much. This changing dynamic then alters our view of Mikey as well. It’s brilliant.”

Nicky (John Cassavetes) is holed up in his hotel room and hiding from the mob after too many bad money decisions. He calls his life long friend Mikey (Peter Falk), who he has known since they were chi...
