I came onto @bsky.app just to bat back a few misconceptions about the Coogan defamation case and the academic narrative about the Richard III discovery. But I have found myself blocked - by an archaeologist! - for the first time in my online life (well that I know). Doesn't happen at the other place
I know the quote well. I was hoping you had done the work of reading it before referencing it. Strange clearly refers to all of the car parks (plural) in the centre of the Friary precinct, of which there are at least three. Look it up.
Steve Coogan's ‘The Lost King’ was always defamatory, deliberately, provocatively so; and it's impressive that Richard Taylor took the filmmakers on. Here's my review of the film and its consequences from the time. tinyurl.com/y46r86us
‘The Lost King’ - What it changed
Steve Coogan and Philippa Langley may have overplayed their hand, but...

Could you post the entire quote you are referring to?
Two elements to this. There is the Friary precinct, which is a large area and yes the site had never been lost. And then there is Langley's specificity - the northern end of the Social Services car park - which was entirely new.
The whereabouts of the Friary were known; the location of the church-choir wasn't. Langley, Ashdown-Hill and Carson (the Looking for Richard project) predicted it would be in the north of the Social Services car park which is where ULAS put its first exploratory trench and where RIII was found.
Could you explains a bit further?
