Experimented with adding voxels to my game's terrain deformation system. It looks great but currently uses a ton of RAM. Time to optimize...

As part of work on Shopkeeper's Tail, we've been polishing up the art to bring it closer to that mixed-media vibe!

Anduin Solcrest, an Oath of Redemption paladin who fights for a world where he never has to lift a blade again. Struggling to cast spells, Anduin coats his blade and gear in ichor, setting his foes ablaze in a fury of radiant dawn.

No it totally does! It’s something that is definitely a factor based on the paints and things you do.

Historically we get around it by doing some photo edits to the normal map photo once it’s captured depending on the colors of the object to make sure colors are vibrant

yeah that’s basically what I do to capture normal maps for physical models in the game im working on, but you could absolutely apply it to just capturing materials on a surface

made a normal map lighting setup in my living room! goal is to make/paint little models and use them in engine for dynamic lighting for my game!

Our team spent last semester working on Shopkeeper’s Tail, and we’ve submitted our game to the Rising Tide Challenge to potentially get funding!

Wrote an article explaining the process of applying normal maps to physical models. We used it in development of our current project, "Shopkeeper's Tail"!

By hitting real-life objects with RGB colors at the correct angles, you can make your photos have normal maps! Incredibly useful for mixed-media.

You can read more about it (and the project we used it for) here!

this is so cool! my team is trying to do something similar for our senior capstone project at Kent State. was wondering how you were going about implementation of your assets into an engine? It’s been one of the biggest hurdles we faced in Unity

attached some photos for reference!
