Beware shadow presented as light. Darkness isn't sin. The lie is.
Accessibility is more than ramps—it's empathy in action. Mask? Mobility aids? Comfort items? Running late? Cancel last min? Show grace and competence not judgment.

That’s if we deal with the trauma and don’t let collective amnesia set in again 😢

Repealing birth right citizenship when your ancestors illegally seized and colonized this land is crazy business. It’s projection in its finest form. Don’t get me started on censoring LGBTQIA stories in schools. The Supreme Court is on one today.
Want real relationships with Indigenous and Afro-Indigenous communities? Stop with the optics. Do the work: learn, show up without strings, listen hard, and respect our pace.
A love note to the aunties, the moms, the caregivers, the cycle-breakers, the medicine carriers:

You’ve held so much.
Now it’s your turn to be held.
Let this be your reminder:
Eat the berries.
Take the nap.
Have a “look at the moon!” moment.
Be whoever you need to be.
I never stopped wanting to eat the berries 🍓 That’s why I wrote Hasi Čhigǫ:yǫ (Sweet Berry)—a children’s book in the Yesáh language to help our babies (& inner kids) feel seen, heard, & powerful in their joy and culture. Wanna read it or gift it? It’s waiting for you at ddayehunter.com/shop.
🌱 “These stories and poems got MY ancestors excited.” — Butterfly

From ancestral healing to collective liberation, your words remind me why I wrote Seeds in the first place.

Sooner or later all those cross burnings were bound to catch up. #NottowayPlantation #Amerikkka
This is also what we mean when we say “cultural burns.” #NottowayPlantation #CulturalBurns
Two things you don’t play with: fire and our ancestors. #NottowayPlantation #LetItBurn
Stay tuned for the Poetry Stroll Reader’s Choice Award announcement—fingers crossed we brought it home! 💫

⚜️This International Women’s Day I am resting from capitalism and internalized intergenerational trauma that tells me I must break myself to make sure I have enough. I am dispelling the deep rooted lie that I don’t deserve rest, kindness, or compassion.
