Sujatha Raman is now pointing out at that Culture is often targeted for behaviour modification, something interdisciplinary research can address. Also, deeply contextual place-based knowledge is crucial, particularly when we want to 'scale up' knowledge #ssnseminar www.youtube.com/watch?v=9I7g...

Robert ends his response with the salient question "Can we afford not to learn from this case study?"
deakinssn.bsky.social
Robert Faggian is now responding from the Australian context, where he has also found that modular/ cookie cutter policy solutions in climate adaptation fall short. Policy treats informal and community responses as risky, rather than an as asset in adaptation.

The effects of heat, unsurprisingly, impacts women disproportionately: Aalok Khandekar is now sharing a tech stack they are working on to model better models for policy and practice www.youtube.com/watch?v=9I7g... #ssnseminar

🤯 Andrew Lakoff's SSN seminar (live now, just started) www.youtube.com/watch?v=400P... on 'Planning for the wrong pandemic' didn't start with Covid-19 news trickling in. It started with an emergency packaged hospital designed to shelter North American atomic bomb refugees, being set up in Nigeria..

"When you take your own pandemic response road, you need to pave it with your own data". This crucial lesson draws on the point that a "Precautionary Principle comes with an evidence obligation". Future pandemic decision- makers, take note! #ssnseminar #CatherineBennett #Covid19Inquiry

#CatherineBennett is walking us through this extremely complicated process and journey of working together. What an incredible talk on the Independent Covid Inquiry.
Photos of slide with bullet points: Inter, Cross, Multi, Mixed methods, Interprofessional, Trans, Meta, Integrated Studies, Systems, Whole of Government. List is beside image of a valley with a river running through, helicopter bridge and diving/ upside-down person emojis.

During the pandemic, Catherine answered calls from members of the public who rang up to berate her. They'd end up having a conversation. She says this was a key way to understand misinformation #ssnseminar

Transdisciplinary communication was key, but the work came with a degree vulnerability. A leap of faith, or perhaps a leap of commitment, was required.
