This was directed by the guy who did 2000s f4 movies and Tom and jerry live action movie. Tim story

My thoughts on pulse is that I think its crazy when films have their finger on the pulse of modern anxieties & then you watch them now, and those anxieties have only worsened. Like oh man, the website that makes you wanna die so you can be close to your friends still too relevant

The way it should have been him and not the grabber that gets the Halloween hype. 😔.

8 women got eliminated from first round leaving only 3 left.

The only one of the women still in here to beat a man was Harley vs Metamorpho…

What was the point of having two Kara Zor-el variant in supergirl & powergirl if they’re both out first round?

This event is fucking misogynistic garbage.

At some point people started conflating “contrarian” with “smart.”

My hot take about tron ares is that ot had the potentional to have the strongest tron romance between eve and ares but unfortunately Jared Leto was there.

No fucking way for real?

Finding out that Jared Leto kept doing his method acting shit and insisted on staying in character on the set of Tron Ares and would only answer to the name of Ares is so funny, like making a big ass douche of yourself for the third Tron movie where you play “computer program that gains feelings”

Agree, like i think modern Harley is unfortunately cursed with the woman in comics problem where youre sexy first and everything else is second. To tbat.

If you want to honor Diane Keaton by watching Annie Hall, knock yourself out. You don’t have to make sure everyone knows you have Good Person points before you do it. Actually, you don’t even have to post about it? Pressing play on something is not a moral conundrum. You’re not *that* important

Yeah. But I also feel like the kind of humor they do with her in the new comics is kinda 1-note Harley had more or a vaudeville classic Hollywood would comedy thing going and now its more teehee arent i a sexy raunchy girl funny girl, like it feels like there was a lot of subtle jokes that got lost

🟠this was more or less my point that getting mad that Harley like fucks around and does irreverent comedy stuff instead of just being all Mad Love ALL the time is deeply ahistorical and a pretty regressive take on the character
deedeevertigo.bsky.social
She still had a character outside of mad love and saying that shes defined solely by her victimhood in btas and the dcau feels reductive. And wanting her to be more like the earlier characterization its far fetched.
deedeevertigo.bsky.social
I feel like when people say they liked the btas or dcau version of Harley over the modern comics it feels like theyre trying to get a gotcha by saying you want Harley defined by her abuse victimhood forever when Harley did stuff outside be a victim in that, like she was a balanced character.
deedeevertigo.bsky.social
Thats how I feel, like i wish they had tighten up the script bc theres a lot of potential there, and while I like the actor Sam is a bit too blank, as main lead.
deedeevertigo.bsky.social
Is she being defined by her victim hood bc even in btas and the dcau overall Harley had more going on than that. Like she had episodes striking out on her own dealing with interesting themes about her wanting to get her life together or just going thru an adventure that balanced comedy and pathos.

🟠we used to really fight against this modern ish era of Harley saying it wasn't in the spirit of mad love and her origin till we realized it was kinda sucky to insist a character conceived as the victim of an abusive relationship be defined by that relationship forever
deedeevertigo.bsky.social
I hope this clears things up like in terms of design and how in characterization and their supporting cast, and as queer characters theyre treated different 7/7
deedeevertigo.bsky.social
different the fact that Deadpool is the "ugly" character who looks grown while Harley was created to be pin up ready the vibe is different, and shes drawn in this way that feels uncomfortable when her age mates should be somewhere in their 40s, but bc shes a woman she is eternally a 20ish 6/7
deedeevertigo.bsky.social
And because he's not presented someone who needs to be babied while he jokes immaturely the narrative never let's you forget this is a grown ass man Like when looking into gender the way men and women are infantilized and stereotypes for them are 5/7
deedeevertigo.bsky.social
Deadpool doesnt have that issue bc as a man in his relationships and the nature of gender he is not the one being nurtured in such way, where he is submissive and baby like to the people he is with and usually has an attempt of an interesting internal conflict. Deadpool is silly and goofy 4/7
