This is a really good example of Silk’s Ring Theory that I describe here: bsky.app/profile/deed...
Silk’s Ring Theory: The person most affected are in the centre. Their closest loved ones are in the next ring, then close friends, then acquaintances, and so on. When offering support, direct it inward to those closer to the crisis. If you need to vent, do it outward—toward someone in a bigger ring.
Personally, I need to remember to seek my own support from my own ring. I’ve sometimes depended too much on those who are directly affected.

Ring Theory is a simple idea, but it can help inform your behaviour when you know which ring you are in.
It’s complicated because we don’t always know what people face each day and we can be in multiple rings at the same time as we live in a complex society.
Support can take many forms - checking in, a hug, food, a flag, listening more than you speak, educating yourself instead of asking affected people to explain things, showing up for rallies, resisting the urge to centre your own emotions, speaking up when you see injustice, etc…
Although the theory was originally developed in a grief context, it works in many different situations.

Right now, with so much happening in the world, it’s easy to get caught up in our own emotions—even when others are more directly affected.

I’m glad you enjoyed the recipe! I’ll keep the coconut as I enjoy it. I look forward to the next installment.
This red dress is not decoration. It is witness. It is prayer. It is a vow to never look away. (4/4)

With each stitch of this red dress, I remember that this is not history—it is ongoing. I carry the weight of my place in this story. I hold myself accountable to truth, to listening deeply, and to acting with care. (3/4)

As the descendant of settlers, I do not speak over grief that is not mine, but I sit beside it, listening. I honor the courage of families who continue to search, speak, and survive. (2/4)

Today, I hold space for the lives stolen and the voices silenced—Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit people who should still be here. (1/4)

I love the entirety of the Muppets on magazine covers that @riotgrlerin.bsky.social has created, but the Beaker ones live in a special place in my heart!

Make something, anything, because creation is defiance. It’s hope. It’s proof that we’re still here, still capable of beauty, still shaping the world instead of letting it shape us.
1/2 Loneliness, chaos, uncertainty—it’s easy to feel like we’re standing in the wreckage of something that once felt whole.

The world may be unravelling, but we don’t have to. Let’s build.

Agreed. It has almost nothing to do with tariffs. I have no desire to visit the US any time soon. It’s scary and I don’t want to give any financial or perceived support to the Cheeto and his goons.
When you dress like this and they ask about the shoes, you know they’ve got to be fabulous!

Colours of the day Monday: pink and charcoal! #cotdstyle #vog_sandra #ootd #joyousdressing

Back in the office after a week at home with a cold and a bad back. My back is screaming at me. I can’t wait for my stand up desk to arrive.
If, like me, you forget to add it sometimes, there’s a setting for that!

You can turn on the setting to require Alt text by going to Settings -> Accessibility -> Require Alt text before posting.
It’s especially important to add Alt text to images where the image is text based. It’s often easy to do as you can copy paste text from images.

There are more experienced folks out there who know far more about writing good alt text than I do. I’m getting better though.
ALT? What is that? Why does it show up on some images?

Short answer: Alt text.

The user has added a text description of the image so blind and low vision users can understand the image.

You can add it too you post by clicking the +ALT button on the image when you are posting.
