It's not indistinguishable. The average oblivious Bsky user wouldn't notice the lie by omission. They wouldn't say "it's worse", they'd respond at face-value and say "they shouldn't be killing them at all!".

Not even the /setup/ for The Onion's joke being true makes that awareness stand out more.

The premise of The Onion's joke here was that the status quo was already mass-murder before, and they shouldn't be commended for returning to it. The problem is that they have /not/ returned to that status quo, it's just as bad as ever, so the joke is asking you to accept an untrue premise.

We can actually confirm this. An anonymous (verified) Stripe employee told me last month that Stripe does not permit *any* sale of adult content, regardless of whether it is delisted.

Stripe explained this to Itch in August, while Itch was continuously misleading their community (and harassing us).

correct, I believe ethe card networks policy is that the business can't sell any prohibited goods/services at all, not that they're listed separately / don't take card payments
