i'm trying to improve one of my programs by moving all the actual functionality of a file outside of one function's if chain into different functions, for the same reason that the federal government wasn't meant to hold all the power inside itself 🤔

when trump says marxism, he does not mean:

- you believe that the base of society (production and tool ownership) is the primary driver of society and politics
- you view social and economic issues through the lens of class hierarchy, and see society as fundamentally defined by tension of ownership

Interviewer: How far are you willing to go to acquire Greenland?

d-503 got to see the birds before his mind was revoked of its ability to imagine. then he watched i-330 be executed by the benefactor, happy to believe the birds never existed. the state's framing of the shooting is a surgical strike on our empathy to make us forget the good and only see the threat

i am confused by why reticulum does not have an obvious route for community contribution anymore. i get that the project was overwhelming for mark qvist, but for software meant to be a part of the commons and a viable, open alternative to tcp/ip, it seems to be only source-available now??

i'm not really surprised but the fact that the whitehouse obviously vibecoded the entire january 6 page is a bit disappointing. they don't even care about the facts, and they don't even care about not really caring about the facts. check out lines 501-543

have started working on a standard english re-rendering of charles murray's hamewith, and on a whim, decided to chuck a more idiomatic phrase at chatgpt. "cauld eild," which i interpret to mean old age, was more literally translated by chat as "cold yielding"

Sea's lexer is mostly working, this is a pretty major step in the right direction. we're currently trying to decide whether we stick with out current approach of handling some tokens with just string comparisons versus depending fully on dfa conversion...

a little work-in-progress web video player for selfhosting media. feels like this + rss would make for a nice, decentralized "video feed." i don't get why full blogging and videos took two separate routes for how they are shared, especially now that storage is cheap(ish)

i got back a few days ago from a backpacking trip in the catskills and was reminded that, yet again, even just two days absent from the news cycle is enough to cause insane whiplash these days

new blog post: human data isn't just about data, it's about humans

writing targeting humans is intrinsic to our way of life, our humanity, and our freedom. abandoning this in pursuit of some shiny, algorithmic ideal is dangerous.
