It was Doom's first draft. He felt it wasn't "evil" enough and sent it to the blue rat.

I don't hang out in the forums on there very often, nor do I use their Discord server. I chill in comment sections for individual sets and leaderboards.
I'd hate to see a good tool with a generally nice community fall apart because "preservation" had to include the racist Pokemon hack.

RA allowing this on their site was truly the first error. Even just the promise of it being playable should have been a red flag, and it kind of was for some people.
But doubling down at first was such a bad move that I'm sure plenty of people are already forever done with it.

Can't blame them.

Not having to adhere to ratings boards and being able to inject any opinion or stance into a piece of media can allow for some really polarizing content that, wow imagine that, it was REALLY racist.

This isn't all that different from General Custer for the Atari. Indie dev being a bigoted creep.

Romhacks have two very important distinctions:

They were not made with ratings in mind

They are often made by individuals/small teams

I can understand this, as prototypes and unreleased games having a hub like this is very nice for niche communities, however, romhacks are a different story.

If you can deal with a slight hint of Borderlands humor, it's basically the 3D counterpart to Vamp Survivors with a lot of Risk of Rain 1 & 2 elements blended in. The ability to jump and slide around makes the game way more engaging than VS in my personal opinion.

As someone who has been dabbling with different front ends, having one so lovingly crafted based on the WiiU makes me really excited. RetroAchievements support probably won't be far behind and imagine this thing running on a modded Series X... This could be the first console level UI I've seen.
