Still wrecked from watching “Big Fish” this morning. Beautiful, frustrating, hilarious & sad, I never thought a film could nail the spirit of the conversations I had with my dad over the last few months but the film helped me reconcile the sadness and hurt left in his wake.

Still wrecked from watching “Big Fish” this morning. Beautiful, frustrating, hilarious & sad, I never thought a film could nail the spirit of the conversations I had with my dad over the last few months but the film helped me reconcile the sadness and hurt left in his wake.

I just caught myself singing “Time Warp” from the #RockHorrorPictureShow in the voices of Eddie Vedder (“let’s do the Time Warp again” in a hard Vedder yarl) and Adam Sandler (“It's just a jump to the left…” in Sandler’s baby talk gibberish). My son thinks I’m insane.

Suddenly remembering meeting David Thomas at UCLA’s radio station in 1991 and asking him what he thought of Peter Murphy’s version of this. He had two objections: PM took out some of the guitar freakery and he made the lyrics understandable. RIP indeed.
