Even if super technologies like nanomachines or immunosuppressive drugs could realistically solve medical problems, I realized that right after such changes, the brain (or perhaps the whole body) would still feel confusion and discomfort without a doubt.

I don’t see a HUD like the condition or status displays you often see in sci-fi, but if I did, it would probably be showing alerts that some of my body devices aren’t fully connected yet.

Regardless of the form, motive, or reason, I realized that when changes are made to the body, even the sense of self etched into the brain and consciousness is deeply unsettled until it adapts.
