Jenrick is a bargain-basement Farage: all the populism, none of the charisma. He got lucky with his stop-a-fare-evader video, less so with his Birmingham comments. If he joins Reform UK, it’s probably his best shot at leadership, because Farage never stays the course.

Effectively, by sending a letter to Rachel Reeves, the OBR has turned this into a political issue. The OBR is supposed to be non-political. It is very clear what could have motivated them to act in this way, and what they have done is shift attention away from their mistake on Wednesday. #bbcLauraK
