Just some old guy on the interwebs.
That guy runs a YT channel about “EV news” that is unwatchable because it’s 95% Elon simping and most of the headlines/thumbnails are Tesla/Elon schilling. The Elon cult is so weird and out of touch.

Pure speculation, but my guess is that it's just for winter sports.

Some great confirmation of the squeeze that everyone is feeling. 120-150K is the new middle class, below that is poverty: www.yesigiveafig.com/p/part-1-my-...

Ah right, makes sense. I was thinking of the Google Auth app vs how annoying their 2FA is forced through GMail. It annoys the hell out of me since every other thing lets you use your own 2FA app and/or passkeys.

Ente Auth is good. Open Source, does encrypted backups, etc. Have been slowly moving all of my 2FA into it. ente.io/auth/

Dating is very weird in general right now for a lot of reasons. Especially for people in their 20s as I understand it. There’s just not a good one sentence summary.

I have zero connection to MS, but them throwing Teams in for free during the COVID era is a good example of it.

At least in my own experience of working in SaaS, companies trying to justify a new product will either throw in seats of the new thing for free, or do a deal for new product which is actually just a contract renewal for the existing product, but label it as new product success.

In case you were wondering, the Meshtastic network across the Front Range of Colorado is legit.

One of my friends (who basically built my first unit) was able to communicate with his wife in Broomfield when he was in Colorado Springs recently.

“The thing that I can’t get over is that the actual richest man in the world directed my fucking firing. I make $50k a year and work to keep drinking water safe. The richest man in the world decided that was an expense too great for the American taxpayer.”
Yesterday many thousands of federal employees were terminated. This is a Reddit thread for federal employees that got laid off.

The federal civilian worker payroll totaled $271 billion in 2022.

The annual cost of permanently extending Trump's tax cuts that primarily benefited rich individuals? $400 billion.

Keep this in mind as Trump and DOGE lay off thousands of federal workers.

At least six independent inspectors general fired by Trump all have one thing in common: their agencies investigated Elon Musk's corporations.

Musk's crusade against the government isn't about "waste" or "efficiency."

It's about shielding himself from accountability.

USAID was investigating Starlink

CFPB was the agency preventing dodgy financial maneuvers like X becoming a bank

Musk is systematically (and illegally) going after the agencies that constraint his business interests
Russell Vought, the acting director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and one of the authors of Project 2025, just ordered the agency's staff to effectively cease all operations in an org wide email.

DOGE is a trojan horse for Elon to gut labor, consumer, and environmental protections.

If he actually wanted to cut waste, he'd look at the massive tax loopholes, government contracts, and subsidies that benefit the wealthy and large corporations.

To recap, Trump:

-Forced out the FAA chief at Musk's insistence
-Imposed a hiring freeze that reportedly included air traffic controllers
-Fired the TSA head and gutted a key aviation safety committee
-Blamed the DCA crash on DEI

This is disastrous leadership.

I use Cryptomator to create vaults in Dropbox. It’s not perfect but seems to be the best alternative.

I used to use Boxcryptor until Dropbox bought it and killed it.

During the pandemic, a woman in a meeting I was in somehow managed to unmute her phone right as she got into a bathroom in the middle of a meeting and started taking a dump (including farting, etc). Everyone was frozen in disbelief/shock; she finally got booted like 3 plops in. Surreal.
