Even high above the sand upon legs of dead tissue puppeted from within the torso, and a second trio of legs on its "back", the creature will die if it cannot soon dive beneath the ground from which a sandstorm so rudely unearthed it.

The sand gnawl, a descendant of flies. Its head splits open to hunt, its jaws born from an ancient molting organ between the eyes, the ptilinum. Buried in sand, it waits for movement, then erupts; its sticky ptilinum and eye-teeth seizing prey before vanishing beneath the heat-shattered earth.

Millions of years in the future, Earth bakes beneath an aging sun. The oceans are gone, and life nears its end. Across the burning dunes, a pencil-sized creature scurries: translucent, three-legged, jawed, and eyeless. Yet within those snapping jaws… are eyes.

A quick concept called the Octotruck, an off-roading beast fueled by diesel and a whole lotta energy drinks. Those flexible wheels might save you from a stunt gone too far.

In my attempts to get faster at art, I banged out these three in just under an hour. The false colors show my steps, as I swapped colors as I went.

The other art for the technology update of Upon Soil They Made! This sets the stage for what's to come!
It shows how a mechanism can be made of one large, bendy part, not many small ones, a fact heavily used in the mission.

Shown is a flowchart for how the machines create organisms without needing to bring organic matter, explained in the page.

The next chapter of my sci-fi project begins with this page, the focus shifting from humanity and their mission to the newly-dropped robots on a strange and empty world.

Here is the target and setting for my project, the planet Sienna. Wet, oxygen-bearing, yet sweltering, it presents both opportunities and challenges for the robots.

First piece of art for Upon Soil They Made is also my first vector artwork. It's plain, but shows how the fleet of space probes are organized and how they work together.
