What is the cost of living crisis?  The cost of living crisis is the increase in the cost of everyday expenses, such as energy, food, and housing. It occurs when prices rise faster than incomes, making it harder for people to afford basic needs.  While the crisis is widespread across the country, disabled people are disproportionately affected, with some reports estimating that disabled households spend on average £975 more each month than non-disabled households.  For many of us, the additional financial pressures can make managing daily expenses seem daunting. Despite an ongoing independent review, the number of Carer’s Allowance overpayments has grown by 9,000 over the last nine months.

We need to see urgent action by the DWP, which is why we are proud to have signed @carers-uk.bsky.social letter calling for an immediate halt to new overpayments.
