I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve signed with @nefariousbatpress.bsky.social, and my debut novella THIS IS HOW THE WORLD ENDS will be published this autumn!

It’s a queer dystopian story about the end of humanity and what comes after. I can’t wait for it to be out in the world.📚💙 📚🏳️‍🌈 📚🏳️‍⚧️ #writingsky

Loved this creepy, spicy, scary horror romance novella by @azaleacrowley.bsky.social!

An Asian American woman goes on a first date, but things take an unexpected turn…

Azalea Crowley is one of my very favourite authors, and this is the goriest horror of theirs I’ve read. I had tons of fun! 📚💙

This made me cry.

Sir Ian McKellan is a national treasure, and this monologue about refugees and intolerance is perfection.

I’ve never seen him in a play, but I saw him at an LOTR convention and his every word held gravitas. Love him. And I’m sad these words are so relevant now.
Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

My partner is 6ft3. He took a picture of what I look like looking up at him. I look like the bug from A Bug’s Life. Then I showed him my view of his nostrils. This is also unfairly absent from fics.
As someone who is over six feet tall, I can say that y'all aren't doing enough with the height difference fics. Talls use the top shelf to hide the snacks we don't want to share. Our feet hang off the edge of most beds. If we hug you and you go high, we have to suppress the urge to hoist you.

I’m going to see XLov on Sunday!

They’re a “genderless concept” Kpop group. I can’t wait.

Judging by social media, the rest of the crowd will be 16 years old though 😹 not an issue, just funny that I got into this music in my 30s, after decades of metal concerts.

Went to this exhibition that The Guardian called ‘revolting visual soup’ and laughed when I saw a Space Invader in a Damien Hirst tank

Admittedly, kinda soup-like.

I don’t know what they expected from a Hirst / Invader collab though. It was never gonna be intellectual. Enjoy the silly, I say. #art

Read this brilliant queer horror collection by @tcparker.bsky.social last night.

Loved it. I really shouldn’t have read it at night just before I went to sleep, it was that terrifying!

I especially loved the subtle commentary on British social inequality and intolerance. 📚💙 📚🏳️‍🌈

Wait… qntm, the author of the below book, is on BlueSky, and has both a regular account ( @qntm.org ), and an account which is just a series of two word horror concepts ( @twowordhorror.bsky.social ).
Incredible. Now I’m even more obsessed.
I have not shut up about this book since I finished it.

A mind-bending conceptual sci fi thriller about an organisation dealing with unknown entities that manipulate and wipe memories.

One of the best sci fi books I have EVER read. 📚💙

This is a fantastic short story by @sunyidean.com.

It’s told entirely in second person and the format works so well. As for the plot… well, the title says it all. It’s extremely satisfying and very *now*. And look at that cover!!

EAT THE RICH. 📚💙

Lady Gaga performing Abracadabra with a walking stick while playing the keyboard and giving full metal opera at the Grammys made me emotional. I don’t have fibromyalgia but I do have a chronic illness. Seeing her perform with a mobility aid, making it ART.. love it.

Also everyone saying fuck ICE.

Pandora jewellery has a Bridgerton campaign and at first I was like YAY LESBIANS and then realised nope, these are sisters in the show.

But the whole campaign is the two of them floating around and embracing with faces very close together and I’m very confused. Tell me you see it too?

Bridgerton remains as silly a diversion as ever.

But I am happy to see deaf/HoH representation, and I thiiink I glimpsed a gender non-conforming person. Of colour. And that makes me happy.

Watching The Great for the first time.

How on earth have I not watched this before? Both leads are fantastic.

I have ordered a wrist brace because my wrist is in agony after a solid month of work typing.

And now that I’ve finished the work I want to do even more typing. The good kind. Cannibal regency romance typing.

I feel like a real writer.

I have spent fifty years rolling my eyes at conspiracy theories where all the elite rich people are in a secret evil gang, and thrillers where everyone remotely important has the same Dark Secret, and now sodding look.

Just been reminded that Savage Garden exist.

I was obsessed with them as a lil queer kid. Everyone dismissed it as silly pop, meanwhile I was belting out songs about financial insecurity and non-monogamy. I learned a lot from them. Especially this song:

Finished my massive project and immediately fell ill. Which is unsurprising.

I was supposed to go to a book launch tonight dressed as a winter prince, but I can wear that outfit to something else.

I’m just relieved the project is over and I get to watch Kdramas and read sci fi books again!
