The file turns out to be a remote connectivity tool called ConnectWise, which we use at work. Had I launched it, it would have given whomever access to my system and all information.

So that was the first tell, obvs a scam. I opened up the link in a private browser and the page appeared different from when I clicked on it on mobile. This time, it wanted my name and email. After clicking to open the message, it downloaded a file.

There's little online about it, but it fit the pattern. All the links in the email went to a domain that was mismatched from the company it was pretending to be, along with the link at the bottom that said "secured with avast"

Just had an interesting scam come through that was very convincing until I looked closer. It started with an email from a friend that looked like an invite to a party. I clicked it on my phone and the resulting page asked me to log in, so I stopped. Hopped on my computer to dive deeper.....
