Hi new followers, guess it's time for a new intro post. I’m David, been working as indiedev ~15 years, made a few games, I like coding my own frameworks in SDL/C++. More "recently" I've been doing contract work using Unity/GM2 etc for consoles, so been vverry slowly working on my own new game.
Because most people can’t tell the difference and there’s not enough content; streaming platforms (Netflix etc) content have much lower bitrate than a Bluray. Most Games on consoles can barely hold 4k at 30fps and even that needs upscaling sometimes.

I actually went back to test it on 3DS devKit were I had to ditch thumbs all together (for save constraints as well though). Speaking of which, the 3DS version is still my personal favorite. Dual screen!!!

Randomly while working on something else, it occurred to me why QoD save thumbnails could get corrupted, one of the bugs that have been there for the longest time. I need to eventually push a new build with this and some tweaks in the next few weeks or months (depending on time).

if you use Rider it's possible you have a big file named java_error_in_rider.hprof file in the root of your home folder. with prices high every GB counts.

Resuming my Resident Evil 4 Remake play-through after stopping due to breaking knives, and its growing on me actually, which I’m surprised since I hated that in BotW until the end of the game. Also playing this now reminds me how incredible RE4 on GC was back in the day.

Reminder that when a new Godot versions shows up, it's always useful not only to read about new features, but also migration guide for breaking/subtle changes that might save you time spent on issues later.
Upgrading from Godot 4.5 to Godot 4.6 — Godot Engine (4.6) documentation in English
For most games and apps made with 4.5 it should be relatively safe to migrate to 4.6. This page intends to cover everything you need to pay attention to when migrating your project. Breaking change...

Math can be tricky sometimes.

100 HP + 10% = 110 HP
But 110 - 10% = 99, below 100

Had to explain to someone a bug on their RPG math where un-equiping items with % applied to total value could get their attack/HP below original value. Using Base value for the calculations is better.

Good news overall and I guess especially for Switch 2, this means the quality/performance for Part 2 and 3 will likely be on par with Part 1 which runs and looks really good.

#Godot 4.6 is out, and all about your flow!

This release puts you and your workflow first with a new theme, flexible docks, and dozens of UX improvements. And Jolt Physics by default, revamped IK, better reflections, and more.

Less wrestling with UI. More making games.

somehow I completely missed until now that boombox TVs existed and were a thing. Some had movie DVD players in them.

Considering the increasing costs of parts maybe we should go back to CPU-software render, making games fit on 1-2 650MB CD-ROM and run on 2GB of RAM. Probably good enough for a ton of games.

I have slightly higher expectations for this new Resident Evil (2026) movie because it's being direct by Weapons (2025) director Zach Cregger. He had some amazing camera work on that movie so at the very least I'm expecting good atmosphere regardless of story.

imo Click (2006) is now Severance canon as I just realized Christopher Walken played a similar character in both.

Like I said before the FF7 Remake demo is really impressive on Switch 2. This sets a new bar for my expectations regarding ports for the handheld.
Make no mistake either, this is not the PS4 version of the Final Fantasy VII Remake, this is a port of the PS5 release through and through, though locked to 30fps of course.

This is even funnier because I’m now imagining this was born out of a bug on a recursive function
thinking about the funniest joke ever put into a video game again
