I’m sure this is difficult, and obviously VU’s to make. But I’ll gently share this reminder that in 1914 Vanderbilt and Chancellor Kirkland asserted their independence from the Methodist Church, and it has certainly been thriving since…

Shout out to the Coca Cola products delivery truck who did NOT smash over the delineators and part in the bike lane on Demonbreun this morning!

I had an appointment with a VU doc today and had the honor of parking next to a famous bike ridden by a top Nashville bike advocate!!

Finally a tariff I can support!

What is amusing about this oft-repeated situation is that the car/truck driver would say they "can't" park in the car lane because it would block "traffic." 1) Bikes are traffic too. 2) As parked, 99% of the time they're effectively blocking the car lane anyway, so just fully use that lane.

I second the vote for Birmingham. There's some amazing stuff downtown, including cool public spaces under interstates, and of course the civil Rights museum. Not to mention lots of great breweries!

Famous Nashville native Emily Kleinfelter is at it again. Check out this on-bike interview she did this morning about a new bicycle "practice park" in Littleton, CO. youtu.be/OuSgxmwLu5I?...

Does the phrase "irrational exuberance" ring a bell for anyone?

Yellowknife is an absolutely amazing place by the way. Cool town and probably the best place in this hemisphere to see the Aurora Borealis.

Sorry, I wasn't clear in my post. I didn't mean to be referring to the stand up scooters. My intent was to differentiate the e-bikes from what is essentially an electric powered motorcycle.
dkleinfelter.bsky.social
Take note Nashville. The vast majority of complaints I hear about e-bikes are actually about e-scooters. They're not the same thing.

Ride Illinois served as a panelist for the Summit on E-Bike/E-Scooter/E-Moto Ordinances hosted by the Northwest Municipal Conference. Ride Illinois has identified the need to clearly differentiate between legal classes of e-bikes and e-motos as a top priority.

That is EXACTLY why/how Walk Bike Nashville got started 25+ years ago.

AKA, design the city you want, not the city you have.

Also - Can anyone explain how this headline about the Titans makes sense? (They lost, for those of you who don't follow the NFL.)

Today's bike lane blockages. 2706 Natchez Trace, 971 Church, and same company, same truck as last week at 947 Church. @nashvilledot.bsky.social can save money by installing concrete protection instead of flexiposts that drivers ignore & sending "enforcement" personnel where violations have ended.

This morning s Tennesseean has "mind blowing numbers" about Vanderbilt's football game on Saturday. Most mind-blowing of all, is that Vanderbilt somehow is 2-1 in the SEC, having only played one SEC game.
dkleinfelter.bsky.social
Instead of spending money NDOT enforcement personnel who cannot get to locations before the improperly parked vehicle is moved, Metro should divert funding to this type of actual bike lane protection.
dkleinfelter.bsky.social
Artificial turf. Seriously. It's used widely in western US cities.

Look at the bike lane protection Nashville native Emily Kleinfelter designed and helped install in Littleton, CO. @nashvilledot.bsky.social @jkupin4d19.bsky.social @freddieoconnell.bsky.social
