It occurs to me that this whole knitting thing would go better if I knew what the heck I was doing, and knew my left from right. After all, I've only been doing this for 35 years. #knitsky 🧶

Sunrise over the Chesapeake Bay off of Grandview Beach. I was told the birds were gannets, but I couldn't vouch for that. #photography #sunrise #birds
Vivid orange sky at sunrise with a flock of dark silhouetted birds.

When I think of how much space my fabric, yarn, thread, and tools take up, it amazes me that you craft while living in a van.

Osprey Making a two-point landing. I put a crick in my neck watching him fly above me. #photography #birds
Image of a osprey having just landed. He is facing away from the camera and standing in very shallow water with his wings still outstretched.

Yellow crowned night heron. I love the way the water is rippling over the chunks of rip rap and oyster shells. Mill Creek #photography #birds
Yellow crowned night heron standing in shallow water, surrounded by little chunks of rip rap covered in oyster shells. The water is rippling over the rip rap as the tide changes.

Double crested cormorants. I so wish I could take nature photos without cars and speed limit signs. #photography #birds
Double crested cormorants perched on pilings in the water. The background is blue water, some gulls, and the far bank of green grass. At the top of the picture you can glimpse a car and a speed limit sign, showing that the setting is in an urban area.

I ran into a knot that made me have to join in new thread an inch before the last stitch of a snowflake. #crochet Pictures of snowflakes will be posted after blocking occurs.

I don't plan on playing thread chicken with this project. #crochet
Picture of a very large ball of crochet thread sitting on a laptop keyboard. The thread is labeled Aunt Lydia's Crochet Thread Classic 10

I love the old needlework magazines. Mom downsized and we couldn't keep all of them, but I kept a box. The clothes in the ads are wonderful - I remember dressing like that.

Juvenile yellow crowned night heron. Sometimes they just stand in the shallow water and pose for the camera. #photography #birds

I'd post a #WIPWednesday except what I currently have is a non-photogenic mass of thread. It might be frogged shortly - I'm so far above my skill level I need a parachute. I know how, it's doing I'm having trouble with. I'll post it if it happens to make it to finished object. #crochet

Laughing Gull with a nice piece of fish for himself. Odd not to see a whole flock of birds around him fighting for that one little fish. #photography #birds
Laughing Gull standing at the edge of the water with a small fish in his beak. He is in his non-breeding plumage and easily mistaken for a different type of Gull, except for his black legs and beak.

Sadly, they are no more. The pictures are all from 2013 when I was in a photo a day project. I think I'm going to start that back up if I can.

Knitting slowly means the yarn lasts longer - more bang for your buck.

I managed to do it in the end. I know how, I just get fumble-fingered.

Yellow crowned night heron eating dinner at Mill Creek. #photography #birds
Yellow crowned night heron standing in shallow water, with an oyster or piece of fish in his beak. It is a tidal creek, and the tide is out, so the shore is mud covered with seaweed.

That's looking good! I'm so glad.

Mine's been glitchy since last night.

Finally! Essential tremor has a lot to answer for. 18 minutes to get 12 stitches right.

How come every time I try to do a magic circle in #crochet , my right hand says "yeah, sure, fine" and my left says "no way, can't be done"?
