The closure of the Post-Gazette, as well as the City Paper, is a sincere travesty for the city of Pittsburgh and a huge blow to journalism. The long term impact of losing these local news resources is immeasurable and won’t be fully realized for years to come.
Move comes just after the Supreme Court denied a bid by PG ownership to delay having to reinstate healthcare benefits for workers under prior contract. That was at issue in a years-long strike that only JUST saw union journalists return to the newsroom.
