If you’ve got a #doggo with a soft spot for peanut butter, here are some safety reminders to help protect our furry best friends.

Tips include: Check the label before giving your dog peanut butter as added ingredients could be harmful for them. Xylitol, a sugar substitute, is extremely toxic for dogs and can sometimes be found in peanut butter. So, in general, make sure to avoid foods that contain xylitol. Macadamia nuts are also toxic to dogs. Make sure to avoid them altogether, including macadamia butter. Overall, moderation is important. Daily servings are not ideal and they can quickly nudge your dog’s calorie count over the limit. When in doubt, check with your vet! If your dog is on a special diet or prescription diet for health-related conditions - make sure to check with your vet before giving peanut butter.
