Here are the basics of the Liminal Velocity universe:

Most of the universe is dark and hostile to life. Spheres are the exception (they're bubbles of safe space) This is where habitable planets can be found. Spheres travel through space on predictable paths. Planets remain stationary relative to their sphere. - Interplanetary travel using Subspace Warp Highways is commonplace. If you don't pay too much attention during the trip, the experience is not much different from traveling down a regular road. - These warp highways are created by a fungal entity known as Highway Mimic. Similar to how classic mimics imitate treasure chests, Highway Mimic imitates Travel. It uses the expectations and memories of travelers to shape the highways features.

Species: Pretzel

On the left is a Pretzel named Whirl, and on the right is one named Starch.
Most notable features of Pretzels are their very large Lugia-like hands, and round moomin-like nose. Inside their nose is an organ that fills with water and acts like a rebreather, allowing them to stay submerged for up to an hour. They have no sense of smell.

Thoughts for enduring bad days

On your best days, it can feel like nothing can get you down, but if you're tired or achy, the slightest thing can make you feel like your life is spiraling out of control.

When I'm having an awful day, it helps me to acknowledge that my perception of things changes based on how my body feels in the moment.

I look at times I overcame the same thing with ease, and I look forward to those days returning. It doesn't necessarily improve that specific day, but acknowledging the cause helps me endure.

When you have a conflict with loved ones, the process of conflict resolution never ends. It should never be consider complete.

Your job is to communicate, to get as close as you can to understanding, and then do it again later, as many times as it takes.

Made a Tine! Her name is "Seeker" or "Ramdimirukam"

Carver and I have been obsessed over this book/species for a while now.

Tines are a pack species from "A Fire Upon the Deep" - What you see here is one character, spread between four fragments. They use those patches on their heads and hips to transmit and receive thoughts from other members. I very highly recommend the book. It is so much better than I can do it justice.

sketching up ideas for Tines

Several sketches of one-eighth of the individual-pack "Amdiranifani" from the science fiction novels A Fire Upon The Deep and The Children Of The Sky. He is a group mind comprised of eight weakly wolflike creatures, each of which is in isolation nonsentient but capable of sharing ultrasonic 'mindsound' with other pack-members, the gestalt of three to eight of which forms a discrete personality.
