Yeah if it's a chain, they likely just shift boxes and would send it away. But even then, it should only be a couple of days to have it sent off, resized and returned. Definitely go independent!

Check out #repaircafe - it's a national (I think) scheme that sets up monthly repair sessions in the community, bit like The Repair Shop. Volunteers there repair stuff for a small donation to the cause. And there's tea and cake.
