“I doubt they'll make it to nine months.”

Touya studies the speckled pattern that he's long since come to memorize. “I wasn't nine months either,” he says, purposely mild. “I read that can be genetic. Especially if they get my quirk.”
“Well,” Keigo starts, visibly contemplating the question in his head. He puts his phone to the side a little too easily which means whatever he was working on must be something he's not too fond of.

“There's only so much room in there,” he muses out loud.
He knows Keigo can tell that sort of thing without having to touch like Touya and that he'd never allow their egg to actually lose warmth, but even so, Touya just feels like he has to check.

“How much longer do you think we have?”
It's something he'd taken to doing after Keigo told there was such a thing as too cold.

“Still warm,” Keigo reminds him for what must have been the third time that day. He doesn't sound like he actually minds though.
“I wasn't going to say anything,” Keigo defends. “I think it's cute.”

Touya huffs, but there's no negative emotion attached to it. The back of his hand presses against the smooth, speckled shell absently.
Though if Touya were to ask Keigo's opinion, he probably wouldn't have classified the shape anywhere near small.

“Don't say it,” Touya says before Keigo can open his mouth. “I already know.”

He can feel Keigo's amusement without even turning to look at him.

Touya can tell Keigo's staring at him over his phone.

Even so his fingers twitch to fix the blankets currently wrapped around the impossibly small egg that now takes up the center of their bed between them.
He mumbles something that sound an awful lot like 'betrayal' that only makes Touya laugh. The pat to Keigo's back that's only half sarcastic is the cherry on top.

It's not hard for Fumikage to imagine their little family of two becoming three.
"I'm glad he makes you happy."

Keigo's cheeks darken even further.

The novelty of the situation grows almost comical when Touya returns and comments on Keigo's expression almost immediately.

His brother groans and drags the blanket in his lap over his face before faceplanting into Touya's chest.
He makes a hand wavy motion in the air that would come off more flippant if his cheeks hadn't been flushed pink.

Fumikage isn't used to seeing his brother flounder for words. Keigo's always been very composed and in control of himself. It's a novel experience for him.
It's after the first movie when Touya leaves to the bathroom that Fumikage speaks up.

"He's good to you."

Keigo's wings fluff up the slightest bit and his eyes widen.

"Who?" Keigo says, purposely obtuse. "Touya? He's always been- you know?"
The next time Touya comes over he makes dinner and Keigo is forbidden from opening any files or his laptop until they've watched at least two movies together. Keigo accepts his fate with a pout and a dramatic utterance of betrayal from his own kin when Fumikage hides the laptop in his room.
He treats Keigo the way he's supposed to be treated.
As an equal.

With respect.

With love.

It's obvious now that's what it is.

And Fumikage, for all his jealousy, can't deny his brother's happiness.
It's not a surprise that he ended up being so successful as a Hero, but that didn't mean any of it had been easy.

Touya had always been a good friend to Keigo. They'd graduated Shiketsu together. Fumikage remembers them talking about running their agency together even way back then.
Keigo who had eventually earned enough for a nice place, in a good neighborhood and was finally allowed to relax. No more suprise visitations, no more threats of having Fumikage taken away.

Keigo had always loved helping people.
Keigo who never complained when he worked odd jobs that paid a pitiful amount on top of his school studies.

Who continued to not say a word when he'd entered the competitive world of heroics while juggling a preteen at home.
Had never had to.

Keigo who had to grow up so fast to protect him from the bullies at the orphanage.

Who always made sure Fumikage had gotten enough to eat even if it meant Keigo went without.
but Keigo had worked really hard when he aged out of the system. Passed everything required of him to become Fumikage's legal guardian so that he didn't have to spend his whole childhood in there.

Keigo's his brother. His only family. And Fumikage's not used to having to share him.
It had only been them for as long as Fumikage can remember. All those years back at the orphanage, the only ones with any visible mutations.

They're not related by blood, but that never mattered before. Maybe it made things a little harder when it came to getting Fumikage out of there,
Fumikage doesn't know how he didn't figure it out earlier.

Maybe he had and just wasn't ready to admit it to himself.

Because he 𝘪𝘴 jealous.

He's jealous of Touya monopolizing Keigo's time.

Jealous of Keigo letting someone else into their small family of two.
Can't unsee, Touya coming over to bully his brother into taking a break. Can't unsee Keigo leaning into Touya's side and curling up like he belongs there. Soft smiles and fleeting touches. And their eyes. The way they look at each other. Like there's no one else in the room.
It's not true. They're obviously not dating.

They're just really good friends. Keigo would have told him if they were dating.

And he's not jealous.

Except now that he's looking for it he can't unsee it.
"They're fucking dating, birdbrain."

The impact of his words doesn't immediately register because Bakugo immediately follows it up with a smirk, "And you're jealous."

He gets up to throw away his tray like he hadn't left Fumikage's mind reeling.
"My brother has been really happy lately," Todoroki deadpans before continuing to slurp his soba.

It takes Bakugo of all people to make him realize.

The blonde is gathering his things, having not let on that he was even listening, when he interrupts their conversation.
It's an intimate thing regardless. Something usually only reserved for family. And Touya now apparently.

He's explains all this to Todoroki during lunch.

As Touya's sibling he must have also noticed his brother's weird behavior.

Instead of agreeing with him Todoroki just shrugs.
