Thank goodness for my hand me down plug in electric snowblower. It saved my back this weekend since it removed about 80% of the shoveling. This is only the 2nd time I’ve used it in 3 years. Weird how you have to plan around the cord path though.

Metroid Zero Mission again on the switch. I don’t remember this one much. Feeling the itch since everyone keeps talking about Metroid Prime 4. Just never got too deep in to the 3D metroid games, despite owning the original Metroid Prime.

My first practical use of AI image generation. My little one was distraught and crying over a ripped sticker. After being unable to find a replacement online, I took a photo of the half sticker that was left, got ChatGPT to recreate the sticker from photo and printed a replacement on sticker paper.

Woot! 4 days before Christmas all the lights in my fridge went out. Got a 5 pack of new LEDs from amazon for $25 and fixed in under 5 min the day before Christmas!

One time I traded some random person on a forum a copy of SNES Star Fox competition cartridge for a plain old NES Dragon Warrior cartridge. If I was a collector I would be mad at how much that Star Fox cart is worth, but damn, did I enjoy playing dragon warrior for the first time. Not mad at all!

One thing I miss with a great longing is a cd player built in to my car. Touch screen and streaming music is great, but sometimes I just want to grab one of my favorite discs and leave it in the player for short hops around town.

First snowman of the season with my mini-me yesterday. The cold didn‘t bother me till the evening when my head cold turned in to a chest cold. Oh well, an excuse to sip some low to mid tier bourbon I guess.

Got Lego Star Wars for switch for like $15 on sale with a ton of the character packs included. This is going to consume my limited holiday free time.

Latest internet annoyance: Websites that crop your password without warning. I’m using a password manager, generating a nice long complex password. Pasting this into password and confirmation fields, I fail to login afterwards with it since you cut off the last 4 characters in the textbox!

I miss having a real tree for Christmas time, but my allergies and vacuum cleaner are better off. I also miss the cheap silver tinsel, lots of memories of silver treads glistening in the cat’s litterbox, I mean in the glow of the Christmas lights.

I got called out by other dad’s a few times this month while out in public with my little one. Those times were calling out good handling of my kid’s small tantrums. I only had the wherewithal to muster a ”thanks”, but it really made me feel seen. Thanks other dads, I’ll try to pay it forward.

The first time I saw SNES game outside of Nintendo Power magazine was in a christmas episode of Rosanne. I believe they showed Morton's castle stage of Super Mario World. It was exciting. I think I got a super Nintendo for christmas that year.

My mom dropped off my childhood lego collection. It’s just a big plastic tote half full of bricks, mini-figs, and mismatched sets. It’s a fun scavenger hunt identifying some of the sets I had and trying to find instructions build them. Printing them out so my daughter and I can build them up!

Spent a couple hours raking leaves and dragging them around on tarps since this is the first day that was not raining or freezing in a minute.
Heck with the leaf blower, a good rake is the best for me. Now my back is angry, but dinner and beer is in my future!

My first online-ish games experience was dialing directly in to my friend’s PC to play command and conquer red alert. The worst part was when someone picked up the phone to make a call and we got disconnected. At least the game took over and let us each finish our games vs CPU opponent.

iOS 26 Siri got worse somehow, especially for playing music. I have a playlist called “2024” and I say “Hey Siri, play 2024 playlist” and it plays the autogenerated “2024 rewind” playlist every time. WTF?

Finally started playing the OG Hollow Knight game after all the Silksong buzz overwhelmed me. It’s cool, the controls feel super smooth, but I’m not in love yet. I’m hopeful. It’s a beautiful game. It’s kind of hard. It’s kind of confusing at the start.

I should give metroid prime series another shake. I’ve always been a 2d metroid fan, but never really clicked as much with the 3d ones. Maybe I’ll give it a shot. I’ve still got the hype from Metroid Dread, so gotta strike while the spark is hot.

I really want some of those new Airpods pro 3, but I just really want to know if they fixed the issue where if you jam your AirPods in your pocket a few dozen times, will it not start blaring static in ANC mode?
