I actually really enjoy them. They’re kind of a scrum atm, and there’s a small meta forming but it’s definitely a lot more approachable to casual players than the typical online. The new battle system genuinely allows room for almost any Pokémon to shine from what I’ve seen and played.

Iono and Canari are the least likeable type of characters in the series for me. I don't really get why we need a streamer trainer but they have exactly the same personality and traits and their design is very similar.

At least Dot/Nidothing in Horizon was a depart from that

Megas are new forms, XY had 71 new mons + 30 megas which makes the usual 100 new, it's just a bit different because the form is temporary + doesn't alter the original mon gameplay wise but still it's hardly "call it a day"

A lot of Pokémon in my team are kind of the classic choice, but it's nowhere near as bad as Brilliant Diamond forcing me to use two Gyarados, this time I only have one

I'm playing ZA with my usual water type team, I go with the flow and even kind of enjoy using binacle.

I will say, they again put a lot of Pokémon with the same typing which means less variety and I have not found any Water/Ground yet and in a game without Abilities it's crippling :p
