Kosen, who handles effects for our game, created the effect you see on the Orc Shaman’s standing pose. I personally really like it, so I wanted to share it with you all. And we’re working on various other effects besides this one, too.

I’m tired of writing about sensitive topics like this, too. People are probably tired of seeing me post things like this as well. If it’s not related to game development, I just want to post my art. I guess I’ll just go watch a dwarf blacksmith and a human guy having sex instead.

It’s probably why I’ve become less resilient to tweets like this. People like that leave the same replies across all my social media. Whenever they show up, it’s hard for me to ignore them—I’m afraid they’ll label me a racist again, or call me “ching chong” like they did back then.

It’s not just me—many illustrators get branded as racists like this, and it happens especially often to East Asian illustrators. Some people even say Koreans “worship white people.” It’s really exhausting.

I changed my approach: rather than risk being labeled a racist for explaining the bright lighting, I just toned the skin down and re-uploaded it. It reminded me of how I suffered back when I was working on Overwatch’s Mauga, because people tried to paint me as a racist...
