From the first chapter even!

That’s my problem.
Things in my vicinity tend to spontaneously combust.
Especially when I’m mad or frustrated, which is often, but even when I’m scared, or sad, or particularly excited.
I could chalk it up to coincidence, or the climate, but as ash and fragments of gas pump rained on me like shame, that explanation seemed comically weak.
Khrystal was the first to speak.
“How did you do that?” she rasped.
“I didn’t. I swear. I don’t know how—”
“You did something! I don’t know how, but you did this!” Tiffany was quiet, still in a trance.
“I didn’t mean to! I mean—I couldn’t have—how could I have—”
“You must have had a lighter or something. A match hidden somewhere,” Tiffany whispered.
“I don’t have anything like that,” was the shaky response I managed to muster up.

#wipsnips something about spring has me turning two different outlines into first drafts! This is from my horror story inspired by my time in the woods

“I thought you believed me,” my voice felt raw and hoarse. She averted her gaze.
“It’s not that I don’t believe you, it’s just,” she sighed and leaned on the counter. “He’s such a good boyfriend.”
“Yeah, so was Ted Bundy.”
“Really Esper? Ted Bundy? Really?” I flopped down onto the couch.
“Yeah, he was also cool and suave and older. Didn’t you see the Netflix movie with Lily Collins?”
“What? No, of course I didn’t. Ted Budy is scary, I don’t want to watch anything about him.”
“My aunt went on a date with him in college,” I said as I sunk further into the couch. “She said he was so charming.”
“It’s Seattle, everyone has an aunt who went on a date with Ted Bundy,” I curled deeper into the cushions. She was in danger and there was nothing I could do to convince her.
“Can you leave?” She said after a moment. “I’m mad at you.”
“What if he’s waiting for me outside,” I responded. “He could tell that I didn’t trust him.”
“Well, yeah Esper. That’s because you’re about as subtle as an elephant.” She smirked. I gave her a raw chuckle. Maybe I needed to try a different approach.
