We as a nation need to come to terms with the fact that violent arrests under supposed #immigration enforcement are a form of unsanctioned punishment without due process, that will permanently inflict disability and trauma on the children who witness and endure it. Cruel and unusual by definition.

California joins the nation in recognizing Disability Employment Awareness Month — a celebration of the 7M+ adults with disabilities who call California home and enrich our state.

Together, we can keep growing an inclusive workforce for the fourth-largest economy in the world.

I've never understood the whole volatile toxicity contrarian persona that some people choose on social media, but I'm guessing they learned it from the darkest corners of the Star Wars fanbase. I'm sorry you have to listen to that stuff so often.

A reminder: fascism may be considered "not quite here yet" by some of us who are privileged, but there is inevitably a subset of minoritized and vulnerable people who are absolutely experiencing it already.
They have some idea what "fascism" really means.

If we were living under fascism, none of you would be here daring to post things. You'd be erasing your social media accounts and keeping your head down; you'd know that peacocking your faux-bravery on a network would expose you to being disappeared.
You have no idea what "fascism" really means.

the regime is zip tying toddlers and ripping them away from their mothers unclothed... calling it fascism upsets this neo-con.

Compromising state money to comply with a much smaller pot of federal money, notwithstanding federal instability, is clearly a nonstarter for public universities in CA. This was a smart guardrail to put in place.

Of course, in any budget disturbance, our most vulnerable students are hurt the most.

Correct. In California, because Gov Newsom posted this, CSU gets about 60% of its core operating funds from the state, UC gets 40-45%, and Community Colleges about 40%. Fed dollars mostly support research and financial aid: CSU 5-10%; UC 10-15%, CCC 10-15% (CA Legislative Analyst’s Office '23-'25)

2.4% stock dip? Normal Tuesday for a tech stock. Media piling on to amplify a tech billionaire's political message of violence toward the LGBTQ community? That's really telling, and really sad.

By "compliance history" they don't mean the coin. They mean the foreign policy that benefits them.

IF ANY CALIFORNIA UNIVERSITY SIGNS THIS RADICAL AGREEMENT, THEY'LL LOSE BILLIONS IN STATE FUNDING — INCLUDING CAL GRANTS — INSTANTLY.

CALIFORNIA WILL NOT BANKROLL SCHOOLS THAT SELL OUT THEIR STUDENTS, PROFESSORS, RESEARCHERS, AND SURRENDER ACADEMIC FREEDOM.
New York Times: "Trump Administration Asks Colleges to Sign ‘Compact’ to Get Funding Preference."

The White House asked nine top universities to pledge support for President Trump’s agenda to help ensure access to research funding.

Maybe it won't happen? A compelling argument from Gov. Newsom.
A photo of a New York Times headline that states Trump Administration asks colleges to sign compact to get funding preference; the White House asked nine top universities to pledge support for President Trump’s agenda to help ensure access to research funding.
Governor Newsom of CA comments: If any CA University signs this radical agreement, they’ll lose billions in State Funding- including Cal Grants, instantly. California will not bankroll schools that sell out their students, professors, researchers, and surrender academic freedom.

Pssshhhh I’d eat that up, I’d be like “It reflects themes of constant transient rotating anonymous people emerging and fading away, and how evil travels through ordinary lives in America.”

If she’s part of a church or has family who might be able to show up in a group and explain gently but firmly to the neighbors that this woman isn’t going to be victimized, people like this often behave.

Police reports to document the bullying, also. Cameras.

Sounds like a job for “The A-Team”.

The fact she’s been bullied by is really heartbreaking.

I once had to go visit my mom due to a neighbor who would ring her doorbell, even peer into windows if he heard her dog bark even once while outside during the day.

Shortly after I and another neighbor spoke firmly with the guy, he moved.
