An interesting detail. If Iranian officials were internally surprised that the strikes caused less damage than expected, it suggests two things: the attacks were either limited or ineffective and the nuclear program is more resilient than many assumed. Strategically significant for all sides.

US signals intelligence picked up Iranian officials talking to each other — i.e. not communicating with the US nor putting on a show for their domestic audience — saying they thought the US bombing Iranian nuclear sites would've done more damage.

Yet more indication the nuclear program survived.
