Howdy! I make popsurreal art (basically, dream-like illustrations with tinge of cute or macabre themes). Plus, dabble in other subjects like character or fanart. Watercolor is my favorite. What's you're story?

Representation of Tuberculosis aka “A sickly young woman sits covered up on a balcony; death (a ghostly skeleton clutching a scythe and an hourglass) is standing next to her” by Richard Tennant Cooper (British) - Watercolor, gouache & pencil on paper / c. 1912 - Wellcome Collection (London, England)
This painting and its long title is by British artist Richard Tennant Cooper belongs to a group of medical allegories commissioned by Henry S. Wellcome from 1910 to 1912 that personify epidemic diseases for moral and public-health storytelling.

On a small balcony, a pale emaciated young woman lies upright in bed wrapped in a thick crimson blanket, her body angled left in. Beside her stands a life-size transparent skeleton, aka Death, leaning inward. It grips a long scythe in one bony hand and balances a large hourglass in the other, its skull turned toward the woman as if conferring a terrible prognosis.

Beyond the railing stretches a serene valley of sunlit mountains and distant water, painted in luminous blues and greens. A small side table suggests convalescence, yet the figure of Death crowds the space, casting a chill against the balmy, Alpine-like view. She does not have much more time in which to enjoy the beauty of this world, as Death seems to tell her that it is time to depart.

Cooper’s image distills tuberculosis, called the “white plague,” into a confrontation between fragile life and inexorable time. The scythe and hourglass, traditional emblems of mortality, literalize the disease’s wasting course. The balcony and sweeping valley evoke turn-of-the-century “open-air” cures and sanatorium culture, settings often imagined in Alpine or Italian landscapes; here, that therapeutic ideal is eerily contradicted by the intimate presence of Death.

The Wellcome commission asked Cooper to render illnesses as dramatic personifications, blending medical anxiety with symbolist spectacle. Sister images from the same series include Syphilis, Diphtheria, and Cholera, where skeletal figures menace the living in moralizing tableaux. Together, they reflect how early-20th-century visual culture framed contagion through allegory to warn and to persuade.

I'm afraid to ask why Velma has any piece of merit, aside from a few creative animation sequences 😬

Also afraid to ask about the music theory thing. But it is definitely true in the art canon/history, so I'm not surprised it could be like that in music.

All I know is Gen1 😅 Some Gen2.
