A very old oak on the footpath between Rydal and Grasmere in Cumbria. I guess Wordsworth would have walked past this tree when living in both of these villages.

The 14th century tower of St Oswald’s Church in Grasmere, Cumbria. For years the tower was white but in 2017 a new lime render was applied and it became yellow.

The Millennium Stone, Derwentwater is a sculpture by Peter Randall-Page, made in 1995. I have also seen it called the Centenary Stone and the Hundred Year Stone. It was placed here to commemorate the Centenary of the National Trust in the Lake District.

Kirkoswald castle in Cumbria received a license from King John in 1210 to fortify the original structure. The Castle was later destroyed by Robert the Bruce in 1314, but was rebuilt and extended in the late 15th Century.
All that remains now is a tower some 60 feet high.

10-11th Century Hammer Head Cross, St Michael’s Church, Workington, Cumbria. This would have announced to all that the building it stood in front of was a church. Said to be a particularly fine example of a Cumbrian Coastal cross of this period.
