The Centre for Lifelong Learning truly put into action ‘university of the public good’. My conversations with students when I taught there shaped the way I think about higher education and research. A huge loss for the university and the city.

Devastated that the Centre for Lifelong Learning @york.ac.uk is being closed after 40 years. What a loss to education in the region. Feel for students and staff. Being a tutor has been joy, doing what universities should be doing by sharing knowledge widely with our communities.

Having gone through a full year of 'voluntary' redundancies (read 'voluntary' as 'strongly encouraged under the looming threat of compulsory severances'), which have seen >5% of staff leave my uni, it's good to see this issue finally getting some press.

88% of low-income households who receive disability benefits were going without the essentials in the 6 months to Oct 📢

Last week I went to a training session, our pre-event homework was to identify someone we think of as a good technical communicator. There was a disappointing lack of women named (including by me - Martin Lewis). I know who I would have picked this week
