Playing devil's advocate I wonder if there's any way that FTA might encourage armchair supporters off their butts?

If we're talking boosting crowds, let's focus more on the URC kick-off times. Hardly encouraging unless you live a short bus ride away.

One of the many reasons we only go to RFC matches these days. Pretty much guaranteed a Saturday afternoon kick-off - unless S4C get their grubby hands on the fixture and move it to a Thursday. Grr.

They're linked in many ways, but not inextricably. In principle RFC are the rugby section of Cardiff Athletic Club whereas Cardiff Rugby are an entity in their own right. As ever with rugby in Cardiff, nothing is ever less than complicated.
