Ran across a text message from last week where I described myself on 1/5 as in the "tail end" of being sick. If only that were true.

Last week someone asked Dear Hank & John why escalators that go down aren’t called descalators and I honestly haven’t stopped thinking about it.
'Escalate,' as in "tensions escalate," comes from the word 'escalator.'

It first appeared in print in 1944.

'Escalator' originated as a trademarked term for the Otis Elevator Company's moving staircase and was demonstrated at the Paris Exposition in 1900.

I am now on my fourth day of thinking I might be turning the corner on this flu/cold thing.
a man is driving a small yellow vehicle that says south state on the side
Alt: Austin Powers is trying to do a fruitless 3 point turn in a vehicle that is clearly stuck in a hallway.

When TikTok gets on a music jam it is unparalleled. Victoria Canal arranged Blackbird in a dark Radiohead-ish style, then Blake Farfan ran with it to create this. The ending chord is… indescribable.

post a perfect album from the 90s that isn't nirvana, soundgarden, pearl jam, or alice in chains.

(It is interesting how many of my go to albums are either from the 80’s or the 00’s)

"Wait, so you're telling me that 15 is *lower* than 16, but *higher* than 14? Wow, such journalism. Much analyze. Fascinating trend....

LinkedIn desperately needs a thumbs down option. It is suggesting I take a look at Mercor. I can't think of a company more outside of my interest and values.

Considering that I’m playing Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 seven months after its release date, I’ve been impressed how little of the plot has been spoiled for me.

We are having two families over this year, so I’m trying a turkey porchetta in addition to smoking a whole bird. Fingers crossed. (Marked as graphic for an excessive amount of raw meat)

If you’re going to be at #ABRCMS, there are a few opportunities to hear from my lab. Nicole is currently applying to graduate school and Lesley is applying to medical school, and both have been EXCELLENT additions to my lab. Come hear about their work! 👇🏾

Watched del Toro’s Frankenstein last week in the theater, thoroughly enjoyed it. Watched again last night at home - never glanced at my phone once. It is truly mesmerizing.
