Health and armor pickups! We were exploring turning TFC's vague backpack pickups into readable TF2-style pickups. Further ideation was going to be done once armor pickups and types were fully figured out, but these early drafts are still very fun to look at. A very very VERY early and unfinished concept for Casbah! A massive tower in the background was intended to act as a landmark for RED's flag room. Doodly concepts for team-based architecture, using the main entrance of the team bases from TFC's Badlands. The idea was for BLU to lean a little more into a brutalism aesthetic, inspired by the original TFC maps and vaguely recalling Fortress Forever's base architecture. RED was to lean closer into TF2's wood-and-metal structures while still retaining the utilitarian vibes. The logo we were workin' with for a long time! I wanted it to echo the original TFC logo, but with the boldness and style of the TF2 logo. The TF crosshair logo got BLOWN UP!!! AAAAHHH!

Some stuff I did for Open Fortress Retromode! It was planned as a rework/remake of Team Fortress Classic in OF, but plans shifted to flesh out and finish Deathmatch. Not a whole lot of playable stuff was done, but I have a good handful of concepts lying around!

Concept art for a remake of the Team Fortress Classic flag, featured in Capture the Flag! It looks like a flag... because it is. BUT! It's also got a wire and some antennae. I wonder what lies beyond its unassuming surface..? Concept art for a recreation of the Dispenser from Team Fortress Classic! Two views, front and side. There's a long bullet belt and a canister containing experimental armor gas. I've tried asking the Engineer how that works but he just keeps whacking me with his wrench and repairing my armor Early unfinished HUD concept art! The main idea was to take what worked with TF2's HUD and apply it to whatever was needed for Team Fortress Classic's gameplay. The shapes are more uniform than TF2's usual UI style, mirroring the utilitarian architecture of the bases. The map in the background is mctf_2fort by Suo! Unfinished concept art depicting the Pyro, directly referenced from the TF2 Catch-Up Comic design, with a ton of missing details. Not a whole lot to describe here, but you can see how the designs would've used the TF2 classes' rigs as a basis, taking advantage of their unique proportions to improve class recognition in Retromode.
