Thanks @roylilley1.bsky.social

‘Watch and read about campaigning GP Steve Taylor’s
...very neat idea about how to construct a new GP contract... very good thinking!
The best ‘new thing’ I’ve seen for a long time.
Have a look!’

After years of underfunding GP practices, appts are still as hard to get & patients are not getting the services they need or deserve

A patient-centred GP contract designed to strengthen continuity, improve access, & ensure GP services are properly funded

YOUR GP - HERE FOR YOU - A NEW CONTRACT

It’s time for a new contract between you, your GP & the Government

For too long GP have been restricted in providing care by top down contracts with limited funding, which don’t put patients first

GPs need your support in providing this

This is MY GP, it’s here for me

Out for a run this morning I thought I’d show my appreciation for this GP practice

It has been there for me this year. I’ve needed 4 GP consults, 3 nurse appointments, a referral, 3 hospital letters responded to, blood test, 10 prescriptions

All that for less £150

Wes & Keir “We’ve a great plan to speed up access to GPs - video, telephones, technology”

GPs 🤷🏻‍♂️-“You mean all the stuff we’ve had for years”

How about some REAL support?

Funding for GPs to see patients & provide the care they need in General Practice

It will cost more that the current contract to provide which pays £169 on average / patent / year

(This has increased from £152 in 2016 but had it kept with CPI inflation would be £209 today)

An additional £40 / person / year would enable this to be delivered

Do you want it?👇🏻

The funding given to GPs to run their practices has been cut in real terms by 20%

The average is now £169 per patient per year, but many practices receive less and in most cases this is in poorer areas with worse health outcomes

It’s reasonably popular with lots of interaction

Always tag the appropriate department or minister so they can learn🧐

Noticed today that Stephen Kinnock MP has blocked it, despite never once engaging or interacting 😥

The pandemic was a catastrophe but one that had been happening in the decade before 2020

Cuts in pandemic preparedness, lack of funding & resilience

The UK saw an additional 250,000 deaths, a fall in life expectancy

Lest we forget the pandemic merely exposed the failures of Government

In 30years I have never been this upset with the words coming out of Government

This includes a plethora of Tory Health Secretaries

I am not part of BMA leadership

I am just a GP who gives up his time freely to advocate for patients, the NHS & make sure the facts are correct
