Old enough to know better but still hopeful and optimistic.
Montana Secretary of State, Christi Jacobson, apparently gave Montana voter registration data to the feds. President Trump stopped walking and her nose got caught in his posterior.

Listen up, everyone under the age of 50. This is the song we need to be listening to these days...https://youtu.be/T5al0HmR4to?si=d8QIz3x5vcXwMU9O

In anticipation of the mid-terms it is now time to begin hyphenating the names of every Republican candidate who fails to disavow Trump with Trump' name. I'll begin: Senator Daines-Trump and Congressman Zinke-Trump of Montana.

I'm against shooting people--it's wrong. ICE shooting a man who was down is sickening. What everyone wonders is it that hard to imagine ICE agents in the cross-hairs of a deer rifle held by a fed up Minnesotan? The whole game will change with the first ICE agent gets shot from 250 yards.

Renee Good was a mother. She was a poet. The last view of her we had, she was smiling and non-threatening. Then an ICE agent in a mask shot her in the face. The administration covered it up and my Republican Congress-critters have said nothing in objection. They are all terrible people.

Tomorrow I will, as will all my 8 siblings, make herring salad, a family tradition that is about 60 years old for us. It's made with potatoes, beets, onion, pickle, apple and hard boiled eggs. In spite of being the color of Pepto Bismol, it's delicious, and brings prosperity in the new year!

My parents are from Chicago, ergo my being a lukewarm fan of the Cubs and the Bears. That said, I think my fandom improved with that insane Bears win over the Packers. Something good is going on in the Windy City.

The Republican Congress has put the President in an untenable situation. He doesn't want to reveal the Epstein files and yet his only exoneration(if you can call it that) is to have everyone be able to see them. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. I have said "damn him!"enough its working.

Imagine you were the President. Would you behave as he does? Of course not, and not because you don't have the guts or the nerve to. You have moral grounding in your personality and Trump does not.

On my No Kings rally sign I will have another quote from Teddy Roosevelt that I made up: "If Donald Trump gets put on Mt. Rushmore, I am climbing down from there."
October 18, 2025 at 2:07 AM
My sign for the local No Kings rally will include this quote from Theodore Roosevelt: “To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."

This cropped up on another site today. "The vanities of our false distinctions..." Hang out with that one a while.

If you are a 79 year old lying, cheating grifter, overweight, stupid, bigoted, unChristian and lacking any empathy or self-awareness, can you still be called a "punk?" I mean, if you earn it, you earn it, right? President Punk.

I read an account of how Charlie Kirk rose to power. He was, it related, bank-rolled by radical right rich guys and his father. It made me wonder if anyone has coined the term "nepo-fascist?" That said, I condemn shooting ANYONE because of their political beliefs.

The price we must pay for the 2nd Amendment is the lives of children. I know it seems harsh but think of all the men and women with mental or emotional problems expressing their best lives. Who cares about children when that hangs in the balance? What do you mean "A Well-ordered Militia..."

I hate a lot about putting the armed military on American streets. I worry there will be an "accidental" firearm discharge injuring or killing a citizen. Remember all that's has been done to use the 2nd Amendment to arm every whacko ever? That's how a shooting war in our streets starts.

There was a line coming from a Fire Sign Theater bit that went:"She had a balcony you could do Shakespeare from." For some reason that line popped into my head when I learned of the plans to name the National Opera House for Melania Trump.

What do ICE agents get paid? When they take the "king's shilling," what do they get paid to do these horrible things? If I ever want to sell my soul, I want to know what the market will bear.

The annual interest on the national debt is around $952 billion. It is not going away. The big beautiful bill will add $120 billion to that number. And federal debt gets paid before money for any other purpose. Our grandchildren are going to hate us for tax breaks for the wealthy.

Parades: Bands playing Sousa Marches, Floats, Baton Twirlers, Service Clubs handing out candy to kids, Scout Troops sort of marching, a few folks on horseback, Flags, of course, all kinds. You will notice there is no place for the Abrams A-1 tank. Just doesn't belong.
June 11, 2025 at 9:35 PM
I can't help but imagine that this weekend's BIG military parade--something that under ANY other President would be dignified and celebratory--is going to be potentially dangerous and/or violent simply because a whacko is President. How far from GREAT he has made us.

I am not the first to notice that everything Donald Trump touches is wrong, diminished, crooked or ruined. It's a feature, not a bug. That said, I still cringe when he works his will on things like Memorial Day.

I am happy to be joining thousands in wishing Bob Dylan a Happy Birthday and Many Happy Returns of the Day.I have been repaid many times over for whatever I have paid to hear his music. He's an artist, and he knows how to look back.

James Comey made a blunder when he posted the picture of seashells formed to say 86 47 because it could be seen as a call for violence. Keeping in mind that the 25th Amendment can be used to remove a President, how about this?
