I arrive in Canada, Toronto customs, and what do I see? Canada flag and Pride Flag, and I think, "nice to be in a civilized country." #canada #civilrights #lgbtq

Here’s how the government shutdown ends.
#landline Woot! Spouse finally agreed to killing our landline. I think what tipped her over the edge was when I found out it could only receive calls and not make calls (Verizon messed something up) AND we have no idea how long that has been going on (I suspect over a year).

Inside the Hermitage, the winter palace where Tsar Nicholas II and his family lived before they were executed—in a country where Russians were starving.
F*cking love the EFF (and am a contributor). The ads #amazon showed were crap anyway, and I killed all the advertising data they collect on my, too. #EFF
Happy Amazon Prime Day! Amazon collects mountains of data about how you use the service, but there is a setting you can change to make it harder for the company to use that data to sell you more things. #OptOutOctober www.eff.org/deeplinks/2...
Remember when technology, and robots in particular, was supposed liberate us from work and other mundane things in life so we could enjoy life and barely work? Now, the reality is that they will be turning a huge swath of our populace into Morlocks. #endstagecapitalism
Tech companies used to be view as forces for societal good. Now they are simply self-absorbed wrecking machines. OpenAI's Sora2 debacle was easily foreseen. Sam Altman simply made the decision that the blowback was worth the risk, and found he was wrong, and backtracked. #openAI #techbros
Just don't buy Amazon Ring doorbells unless you are fine with Amazon handing over your cam video without a warrant (translate: supporting the fascist police state). #amazon #ringdoorbell #police
One of the first things I learned from my staff when I became a CIO was the term "picnic;" the acronym (or if you're a pedant, initialization) Person In Chair, Not Computer. Conversation would go:

Me: How'd the support call go with the Finance VP?

Technician: Was a picnic. #informationtechnology
What I love about the American healthcare system? The fact that my doctor retired, and so I'm seeing his replacement, and I'm getting charged for the privilege. Maybe if you're changing doctors because your old one retired, it shouldn't be a charge. #healthcare
I can't wait for either! (I ordered both types because I really didn't do delayed gratification well.)
I thought CAPTCHAs and 'Pick images of cars' were annoying, but #GitHub is the worst I've ever seen - it's 'move the person to the seat (3x4 grid) whose row number header and column image header match the number and icon displayed in a separate box.' Talk about user unfriendly.
#boston #traffic I asked Google maps how long it would take me to get somewhere, and got a truly Boston answer: 28 minutes to 1 hour and 5 minutes.
Spousal comms 101
Spouse: since you hate the flowers in the front patch we'll tear them up.

Me: what I said: they're encroaching on the heirloom roses; let's push them back?

Spouse: it should only be a couple of hours. & save the tubers to plant them elsewhere #gardening
#riyadhcomedyfestival I would have more respect for these comics if they simply admitted: Yes. I have morals, but I also have a price for them.

Instead of bullshitting some faux logic.
Hey, #susancollins how you like them apples..? Of yeah... your constituents won't be getting any apples! it looks like this is what you're #maga loving, pedo protecting, lying has gotten the people who trusted in you.

If I saw this ahead of the highway, I would change lanes and try to get ahead of it in case it started a "rapid unplanned disassembly." #tesla
I think we need to re-record Iron Butterfly's "In the Garden of Eden" and replace all the lyrics with "F*ck Ice" and "ANTIFA." #antifa #music #ice
Early 00s. Colleague & I consulted for a corporate sub-group, FISC, that built PCs for the org. Delivery & quality poor. Assessed processes: suggested shift to Dell (or like) with fast build-to-order SKUs. They insisted on building. After final meeting, my peer emailed 1 word: FI(a)SC(o) #consulting

The amount and quality of low-key, British under-stated snark in this video is just wonderous to behold. Caused my shriveled little hear to beat a bit faster. Highly recommended. #snark www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jhT...
